NZDE Qualification & National Curriculum
Review Project
About the project
We’re excited to announce that we’ve begun work to review the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE), an important Level 6 national qualification for engineering technicians.
We’re working closely with industry and providers to review the NZDE qualification, followed by a review of the National Curriculum Document (programme) – to make sure that there is a fit for purpose qualification and programme, aligned to the future needs of the industry.
Industry Focus Group – Workshop Report
At the Industry Focus Group workshop, held 11 th September, a range of topics relevant to the NZDE qualification and programme were discussed, and several principles were established to guide the review of the qualification and national curriculum. These principles will be refined or replaced as the review progresses.
A report summarising discussions and principles is now available.
Expressions of Interest – Learner & Graduate Advisory Group
Are you a current NZDE (or NZDEP) learner or have you recently graduated with one of these qualifications? We are looking for interested parties to join our Learner & Graduate Advisory Group.
This group will advocate for learners and graduates and will work closely with the VEE.NZ Quality Assurance Committee to provide insights and recommendations from a learner and graduate perspective.
If you are keen to add your learner or graduate voice to the NZDE review, and further into 2026 regards both qualifications VEE.NZ manages – please fill out the form and send this through to Joy Potter ([email protected]).
